The services received during your visits vary based on your risks and how long you’ve been pregnant. They may include:

• Ultrasound imaging
• Rh factor blood test
• Maternal vaccinations, including Tdap and the flu vaccine
• Prenatal vitamins
• Genetic testing
• Physical exams

The team lets you know if you should plan for any additional necessary tests based on your medical history. Genetic testing is optional; your providers can tell you more about it to help you decide whether or not they are the best option for your baby. 

How often should I come in for obstetrics visits?

As you go through pregnancy, the team at Women’s Health Specialists, PLLC, helps you stay on track with regular obstetrics visits starting either before you get pregnant or as soon as you have a positive pregnancy test. You should visit before getting pregnant if you’re actively trying to conceive. 

At the first prenatal visit, the team listens for your baby’s heartbeat. Then, they complete a series of lab tests to evaluate your health and your baby’s health, including tests for syphilis, rubella, and other infections. The team reviews your results and gets you started with prenatal vitamins. 

For the first 28 weeks of your pregnancy, you should schedule your appointments once every four weeks at Women’s Health Specialists, PLLC. Once you reach the 30th week, you visit once every two weeks until week 36; then, you should come in weekly until you go into labor.
