Confidentiality
Your protected health information is strictly confidential. We will not release your medical information to anyone without your written consent. If you want your medical record sent to another physician, we will require a written authorization be completed and signed by you.
Emergency Care
If you are experiencing a true emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. If you are pregnant and believe you may be in labor or need medical attention, please go directly to Labor & Delivery located on the 3rd floor of Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital or to the emergency room. If you are a physician or hospital staff, dial our office to be placed on hold, and your call will be routed accordingly. If you are NOT experiencing a medical emergency, please give us a call during our regular office hours. Non-urgent concerns, prescription refills, and test results will be handled during the office hours of Monday-Friday from 8am – 5pm.
Scheduling and Appointments
When scheduling your appointment, briefly describe your needs to our staff so that we can ensure you are given an appropriate appointment time. We make a concerted effort to schedule appointments to accommodate the needs of our patients, as we know your time is valuable as well. However, sometimes we do fall behind on our schedule or are called out of the office to attend deliveries or to handle emergency cases. In those instances, your visit will be handled by one of our three highly trained Nurse Practitioners. If time allows, our staff will attempt to notify you by telephone so that you can choose to either keep your appointment time or reschedule.
Canceling an Appointment
If you cannot keep your scheduled appointment, please give our office at least 24 hours notice. In the event you will be unavoidably late for your appointment, please call our office and let us know. If you arrive very late, we may offer you an appointment time with one of our nurse practitioners or you may have to reschedule your appointment.
Prescriptions and Refills
Whenever possible, try to request new prescriptions and refills at your appointment. Please make every effort to give us ample notification prior to taking your last dose to fill your prescription due to the high volume of requests.
Please call during office hours for questions or requests regarding prescription refills. Your medical record will be pulled and appropriately distributed to the nurse who will review and discuss your request with the physician. Please have your pharmacy name and phone number available. Our office policy discourages from calling in new prescriptions over the telephone, as the most accurate way to diagnosis is usually possible only with an office visit.
Fees and Payments
Our fees are based on the usual and customary professional fees for obstetrics and gynecology in the Middle Tennessee area. Services rendered non-covered by your insurance company can be paid by cash, check and we accept most major credit cards. For other payment arrangements, please see our billing manager prior to your appointment.
Telephone Calls
Please make a concerted effort to call our office regarding routine questions during our regular office hours. When calling with a problem or question, briefly describe your situation to a member of our staff. This will help the physicians determine the nature of the problem and respond accurately to your request. One of our staff members will return your call.
Unless the call is very urgent or an emergency, calls will usually be returned by close of business day. Non-urgent phone calls may be returned the following business day. Please make sure to leave a number you can be reached at during these times.
